This search mechanism gives results by pages. The search results will take you to the top of the relevant page. You can then use the search facility in your browser (typically Ctrl-F on Windows or Cmd + R on Mac) to refine the search within the page.

If you wish to search for more than one word, it is preferable to enclose the words in inverted commas. Remember that on many pages surnames come before forenames; so “pye, henry” is more likely to produce a useful result then “henry pye”.
